About Lago di Garda

Lago di Garda is the largest lake in northern Italy and is located nearby the city of Verona. It is a popular holiday location with its long season of sunny weather. Lake itself is surrounded by ancient and interesting villages and the whole lake is covered with ferry transfers. Central spots by the lake are Peschiera and Sirmione. The best way to explore the magnificent coast is to have a car. Boat rental is also popular and relatively cheap. From Lago di Garda region, it is easy to visit Venice by train (1.5-2 hours) and the city of Milan...or even F1 GP in Monza on September.

Recommended villages around Lago di Garda: Peschiera and Sirmione (center spots), Garda, Desenzano, Salo, Lasize, Riva del Garda.

The water of the Lake is colder than the air in summer and warmer in winter. This strongly contributes to mitigating the summer heat and harsh winter, thus rendering the Garda climate incredibly mild and temperate. The Garda area boasts all the characteristics of a “pre-alpine zero-thermal oasis”. It is a sub-Mediterranean climate, so mild and different from the other lakes that it can be defined as the “Benaco climate”. The average summer temperature varies between 24 celsius and 30 celsius. Best time to visit is from June to August, but good weather lasts till mid-September. Lago di Garda is most crowded on July-August, so we recommend to visit Lago di Garda late August-early/mid-September. In the last weeks on the summer season you may find some rains, but usually, they don’t last more than few hours.
